How JSsec uses cookies and similar technologies, and the choices you have.
This policy explains how JSsec Ltd ("we", "our", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at jssec.co.uk and jssec.com (the "Website"), and the choices you have. Our customer dashboard at dashboard.jssec.co.uk and dashboard.jssec.com uses its own essential sign-in cookie, described below.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site recognise your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences or whether you are signed in. Websites can also store information in your browser's "local storage", which works in a similar way; we describe one such use below.
Because the dashboard sign-in cookie is set at the jssec.co.uk / jssec.com level, the public website can tell whether you are signed in and show you the right link, Dashboard if you are, or Book a demo if you are not. This check is essential to that feature and uses no analytics or advertising data.
1. Strictly necessary, always on. Your cookie-consent choice (jssec-cookie-consent) and the dashboard sign-in cookie (jwt), including the check that decides whether the public site shows Dashboard or Book a demo. You cannot turn these off through the banner, as the sites cannot function properly without them.
2. Analytics, set only with your consent. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the Website is used. We also store campaign attribution in your browser's local storage (see below).
3. Advertising, set only with your consent. We use tags from Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta and X to measure our campaigns and show relevant ads on other sites. These do not load if you decline.
The table below lists the main items. Names and durations set by third parties are typical values and can change; confirm them against the deployed site before publishing.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
jssec-cookie-consent | JSsec (jssec.co.uk / jssec.com) | Stores your cookie-consent choice | 12 months | Strictly necessary |
jwt | JSsec (dashboard.jssec.co.uk / .com) | Keeps you signed in; lets the public site show Dashboard vs Book a demo | ~24 hours | Strictly necessary |
utm_data (local storage) | JSsec | Remembers how you reached us, campaign tags (UTM) and ad click IDs (gclid, fbclid, li_fat_id), for attribution | ~7 days, only after consent | Analytics / Advertising |
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors | 13 months | Analytics |
_ga_[container] | Google Analytics | Retains GA4 session state | 13 months | Analytics |
_gcl_au | Google Ads | Conversion linking | 90 days | Advertising |
_fbp | Meta | Meta Pixel measurement and audiences | 90 days | Advertising |
bcookie, li_sugr, lidc | Insight Tag measurement and audiences | Up to 12 months | Advertising | |
muc_ads, personalization_id | X | X Pixel measurement | Up to 24 months | Advertising |
On your first visit we show a banner where you can Accept or Decline non-essential cookies. Analytics and advertising technologies load only if you accept. To change your choice later, clear the jssec-cookie-consent cookie (and the utm_data entry in local storage) or use your browser settings; general guidance is at aboutcookies.org. Declining or clearing does not affect the strictly necessary cookies the sites need to work.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We will post any update on this page with a new effective date.
